Maluku islands, stranded on the border between the Pacific and Indian oceans, inspire a remote sense of loneliness essential to appreciate at best the candour and authenticity of the native people, the mollucans. Here all personal prejudices and ideas have to be put aside not because they are wrong, but simply because they don’t apply. This gave me the amazing opportunity to broaden my perspective and truly explore something new.
To represent it I intuitively focused my attention on a number of activities, details and situations that for me were unusual but for a mollucan may have seem just weird to spend a picture to record them. This huge cultural difference although evident becomes quickly insignificant when just a hint of a simile or a gesture can make you feel home even at the other side of the world.
